A native of Georgetown, South Carolina, Dr. Atu White accepted his calling to preach and was ordained at the age of 19 in the Fire Baptized Holiness Church.
He currently serves as the Pastor of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Springfield, MA, where God has faithfully added over 600 souls to this ministry. To further invest in the community, Mt. Zion operates The Dunbar Center. The Dunbar Center focuses on training, developing, and inspiring youth and families through the Arts, Wellness, and Education. The Dunbar provides before and after-school programming, supervised parental visits, and sports programs through great partnerships. In addition, The Dunbar Center, in collaboration with the Urban League of Springfield and the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts, provides free groceries, with an emphasis on fresh fruits and vegetables, to 350 households monthly.
Dr. White provides leadership to many organizations and businesses. He serves as the President of the United Baptist Convention of Massachusetts, Rhode Island, & New Hampshire, Inc. Dr. White is the Chair of the Board of Trustees for Springfield International Charter School and The Dunbar Center Incorporated. He is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated and several other organizations.
He is a proud graduate of two Historical Black Colleges and Universities, Morris College, and Howard University. In addition, he received his Doctor of Ministry Degree with a focus on Organizational Growth and Leadership Development from Andover Newton Seminary at Yale Divinity School.
Dr. Atu White sincerely believes in the words of Apostle Paul “therefore, since we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we do not lose heart.”
